25 Lesbian Date Ideas – How to Plan a Cute Date Night

Looking for some fun and creative lesbian date ideas? We’ve rounded up 25 of our favourite dates to help inspire some ideas for you and your girlfriend or partner. This guide is full of cute date ideas for lesbian couples to suit all budgets and interests.

If you’re new here, you wouldn’t know that we were in a long-distance relationship for over 6 months when Natalie and I first met. Naturally, when we did see each other, we wanted to make the very best of the time we had together. So, as a result, we planned some pretty exciting and memorable dates.

Not much has changed 7 years later. We love to keep things fresh and exciting, and one of the best ways of doing that is through sharing new experiences. At the same time, we equally love the simplest of date ideas. Sometimes, just being in each others company without distractions is enough.

All things considered, I think that we are pretty good at this lesbian dating malarkey. So whether it’s ideas for valentines day or planning your first date, I am confident that you’re going to find tons of inspiration on this list.

So let’s get to it; here are 25 lesbian date ideas for you and your partner.

Romantic Date Night Ideas

1. Cook for your Date

Sure, it’s lovely to go out for dinner and treat your partner once in a while. But it shows a whole other level of affection when you go out of your way to cook for them.

One of the most romantic things you can do for your girlfriend or partner is cook them a meal. I’m pretty sure it was my culinary skills that sealed the deal with Natalie, so take it from one who knows.

Ask your partner what’s the one meal they’d have you cook for them. Find the recipe online, buy the ingredients and get to work.

Trust me, they will find that $exy as hell. Even if it turns out to be a disaster, they will be so grateful for your efforts that it won’t even matter.

2. Go Stargazing

Stargazing

Oh yeh, this is a good one. It’s near-on impossible not to feel immense amounts of love and appreciation when you’re admiring the magical night sky. And naturally, that ignites a romantic connection with your partner.

We love getting our geek on and having deep conversations beneath the stars. Like why we are here, whether there are aliens, and then ending up completely overwhelmed by how vast the universe is.

3. Spa & Massage Night

Lesbian Date Night Idea

Nothing quite gets you in the mood for you know what than a romantic spa and massage night.

Ah yes, I always have the most wonderful sleep afterwards, don’t you? Wait, what did you think I meant? Get your minds out of the gutter.

No, but on a serious note, a spa and massage night is one of the most intimate things you can do with your partner.

Start with a nice hot bath, put on some face masks, and end the night with a sensual massage. Or spice things up with a new ad*ult toy or accessory. How perfect!

4. Dine in the Dark Experience

Next, we have one of the more unusual lesbian date nights we’ve had during our time together. We had our Dine in the Dark experience in Vietnam; however, I do believe you can find them in most major cities.

As the name suggests, the concept of Dine in the Dark is that you have your meal in complete darkness. You have no idea what you are eating and must rely on your taste and smell to fathom what it could be.

Personally, we really enjoyed the experience. Not only was it something completely different and unique, but we loved that we could canoodle without attracting attention. I’m sure you can relate when I say that that’s a privilege that straight couples don’t know they have.

5. See a Drive-in Movie

Drive In Movie

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to go to a drive-in movie theatre. I would see them all the time in American films and music videos and think to myself how cool they were.

Can you believe that I’ve still not had the opportunity to visit one? We do get a fair few opening up in the UK over Summer, but it just hasn’t meant to be up until now.

Nevertheless, I’m sure you can agree it makes for a super quirky and romantic lesbian date night idea. I mean, you’ve seen the movies. There’s always more frolicking going on than there is actually watching the movie.

6. Take a Night River Cruise

Regardless of how well you know a place, seeing it at night is like observing with a whole new perspective. Everything looks different and more mysterious at night, especially if you’re on the water.

Taking a river cruise at night is an incredibly enchanting experience. Particularly if you do it in a big city where there are lots of bright lights and landmarks to see.

Some river cruise experiences even include dinner or drinks. So that could make for an extra special touch to this otherwise simple yet effective idea.

7. Romantic Picnic for Two

Lesbian Picnic Date

There aren’t many dates more romantic than a picnic for two at a beautiful location. It’s a go-to of ours during the warmer months as it allows us to get our fix of the outdoors while also being super affordable.

We live on the Isle of Man, where there are tons of beautiful beaches and nature spots. But it can be just as romantic in a city if that’s what you have to work with.

When we lived in London, we would have picnics in the local parks or find cute little lakes and rivers. We’d pack all of our favourite nibbles into our picnic basket along with a blanket, and we were away.

8. Try a New Restaurant

When the colder months arrive, picnics aren’t always a practical option. That’s when we tend to try out some local restaurants.

We have been guilty in the past of going back to the same restaurants time and time again. You know what it’s like, you find one that’s good…

But, we’ve made a pact now to try out new restaurants when we eat out, and we love doing so. It’s always more exciting trying somewhere new, and it feels more like a date that way. Give it a try.

9. Take a Trip Together

Lesbian Berlin Bar
Berlin is one of our favourite European cities!

Taking a trip together is the pinnacle of lesbian date night ideas. I mean, who doesn’t love getting out of their home town and discovering somewhere new.

If you know us at all, I needn’t tell you how much Natalie and I love to travel. We swear that this curiosity to visit new places plays a huge part in the health of our relationship.

You don’t have to travel far for this to be a great experience either. Some of our favourite city breaks as a couple are Berlin, Prague, and Budapest. But find somewhere near or far that suits your budget and interests.

10. Drink Wine & Listen to Music

Cute wlw date ideas

You know what they say, the best things in life are free. With that in mind, planning a cute date night for you and your other half needn’t cost a lot of money.

Some of our most memorable dates involve us, a nice bottle of wine, some great music (like these lesbian love songs), and talking until the sun comes up.

Sure, fun and adventurous dates are great. But if you want to connect with your partner on a deeper level, don’t forget to prioritise good old-fashioned one-on-one time.

11. Play a Board Game

Similarly, playing a board game is always a fun way to spend a cosy day indoors. Especially on those grey and miserable days when it’s no fun at all to be outside.

In fact, we’ve been known to cancel wild nights out with our friends just so we can cosy up and play games. But shhh, don’t tell them.

Some of our favourite games to play as a couple include Chess, Bridge, card games, and not forgetting this cheeky little number, Twister.

12. See a Theatre Show

Going to the theatre is one of our favourite things to do as a couple. Sadly, it’s not something we do often enough because tickets are expensive, ya’ll. But when we do, it’s always a nice treat.

That’s why this date idea is a good choice for special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries. Thinking about it, surprising your other half with tickets would make for an excellent gift idea.

13. Have a Movie Day with Snacks

cute lesbian date night

For two people who love the outdoors so much, we sure do love being indoors, don’t we! But don’t worry; I’ll be getting on to the more adventurous date ideas further down.

Some weeks when we’ve had a flat out week of work, nothing sounds $exier or more romantic than snuggles on the couch with some fantastic movies and yummy snacks. Am I right, or am I right?

I know… I’m turning you on right now, aren’t I?

14. Go on a Hike

date ideas for lesbians

If you consider yourselves an adventurous couple, going on a hike can be a really exciting thing to do together. Not only is it an activity that’s great for your health, but it’s an opportunity to check out somewhere idyllic and beautiful.

Both of these things are sure-fire ways to get the endorphins flowing. And we all know what benefits those warm fuzzy feelings can have on your relationship.

Don’t panic; I’m not suggesting that you go and hike the Himalayas or anything. But look up local walks or hikes in your area and choose one to suit your needs.

15. Visit a Quirky Bar

Why visit a regular bar when you can visit a bar that’s quirky and original instead? Admittedly, your choices may be limited unless you live in a big city. And if that’s the case, this is one to save for when you travel.

I think this will forever be one of the things Natalie and I love to do together. We aren’t huge drinkers anymore, and we too are limited in the Isle of Man. However, we’ve discovered many unique bars in London and other cities around the world.

A quick google search should do it. Look for speakeasy bars, secret bars, underground bars, pop-up bars, that kind of thing, and you’re sure to find what you’re looking for.

16. Try a New Watersport

Adventurous Lesbian Date Ideas
Natalie taking the leap during coasteering

If you want to surprise your date with something completely off the wall, trying out a new water sport is about as wacky as it gets.

I think it was my second time visiting the Isle of Man when Natalie took me stand-up paddleboarding. Talk about breaking the ice! On my third visit, she took me coasteering.

It did give us something to laugh about, though, and we still do to this day. It’s unforgettable experiences like this that make the best memories.

17. Go Skydiving

Charlotte loving life during her skydive!

After Natalie surprised me with some slightly petrifying dates on the water, I thought it was only fair that I get my own back. So, you guessed it, I booked for us to go skydiving.

She took it on the chin like I knew she would, and it was one of the most exhilarating (and yes, absolutely terrifying) things we’ve ever done.

I’d say you’d have to know your partner pretty well before booking something like this. But if you’re confident they’d be up for it, why not? It’s one experience to tick off the bucket list, that’s for sure.

18. Take a Camping Trip

Again, this lesbian date idea might not be for everyone. However, if you consider yourselves outdoorsy people who love nature, it doesn’t get any more perfect.

Going on a camping trip can be an excellent way of connecting with your partner. Not only are you stripped back to basics away from the TV and other distractions, but it forces you to work together on tasks such as cooking.

To be honest, we’ve not done much camping in the past. However, we’ve recently renovated a campervan, so we are looking forwards to lots of camping adventures in the future.

19. Fight some Zombies

We were big fans of The Walking Dead when we encountered this zombie experience. It was something out of the ordinary, so we decided to give it a try.

Armed with paintball guns, it’s your job to take down the zombies before they take you down. And boy, do they take you down.

This isn’t one for the fainthearted so prepare for some bumps and bruises. But if you’re up to the challenge, it will be a real scream for the two of you.

20. A Local Food Market

Planning a first date is always a little tricky. You don’t want anything too romantic or intense, but at the same time, it’s good to do something that allows you to get to know one another.

That’s why visiting a local food market is a fantastic idea for a first date. For one, who doesn’t love food? And two, it’s an easy way to break the ice.

With all the sights and smells going on around you, you’ll have plenty to talk and laugh about. Not to mention all the fun you’ll have sampling the different foods.

For similar reasons, visiting a local art gallery or museum is a pretty relaxed and undemanding first date idea.

For me personally, first dates are exceptionally nerve-racking when it’s just the two of you. But with all the incredible art and artefacts, it gives you plenty to focus on other than just yourselves.

22. Play Tourists in your city

lesbian first date ideas

It doesn’t matter if it’s your first lesbian date or your one hundred and second, playing tourist in your home city is always going to be great fun.

I know from living in London most of my life how little time you take to explore the place where you live. It was only when I met Natalie that I made an effort to see what London was all about.

I found a whole new love for London after that. Not because of the sightseeing hotspots that everyone knows and love, but because of the cool and quirky hidden gems that only a local would know.

Trust me, if this one doesn’t send sparks flying, I don’t know what will.

23. Take a Cocktail Making Class

If making cocktails together doesn’t break the ice, I promise that drinking them will. There’s nothing like a bit of liquid courage to get the conversation flowing.

There’s bound to be a local bar in your town or city that offers cocktail marketing classes. But if not, we love to make them at home with our Mixology cocktail making kit. Makes for a solid date night idea regardless of how long you’ve been dating.

24. Go to the Arcade

The chances are you haven’t been to an arcade since you were a kid. But now I’ve mentioned it, you’re wondering why not. Because let’s face it, they’re wicked fun.

So why not surprise your partner by taking them to play some nostalgic arcade games? You’ll earn serious brownie points for thinking outside of the box, and I guarantee you won’t stop laughing.

But remember, there’s nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition. But just don’t do a me and throw a strop like I did when Natalie and I first played Monopoly. Whoops!

25. Have a Breakfast Date

lesbian first date ideas

Didn’t you hear? Breakfast is the new dinner. Which is perfect for a first lesbian date as it’ll feel far more relaxed and casual.

There are a few ways you could up the ante, of course. Such as finding somewhere a little alternative; or that boasts beautiful views; or which serves fun & creative dishes.

But so long as there’s good coffee and you on the other side of the table, I’m sure that your date will be content anywhere.
