About Us

Hi there! We are Charlotte & Natalie. Welcome to our lesbian travel & lifestyle blog. If you’ve landed on this page, it means you want to learn more about us. And for that, we are incredibly humbled and grateful. Let’s be friends.

If you want to learn all the gory details behind how we met, you can do so by reading our love story here or you can watch the video here. But to put it simply, we’ve been a couple since Valentines Day 2015 after meeting on a well-known dating app.

It wasn’t long after getting together that we realised we shared the same dream: to travel the world. So we immediately set the wheels in motion to make it happen.

We moved in together, saved every last penny that we had, and by October 2017, we’d quit our jobs and were ready to embark on our adventure.

Like most rookie backpackers, it all started in Thailand, and it’s safe to say we were addicted from the moment we stepped foot in Bangkok. The sights, the sounds, the energy. It was a whole new world that we couldn’t wait to be a part of.

Our plan was to travel for a year and then return to our lives in London. However, one year turned into two, and by this point, we knew we’d have to find a way to turn our passion into our lifestyle.

That’s how the idea behind Our Taste For Life was born. We figured that if we could collate all of the stories, experiences and lessons we’d acquired during our travels we might be able to help and inspire others. And in turn, make just enough income to fund our travels.

About this Lesbian Travel & Lifestyle Blog

We’ve spent the best part of our 7-year relationship travelling the world. First backpacking and now road-tripping with our beloved dog Ronnie in our self-converted campervan.

Our brand & blog is all about sharing our experiences both on and off the road. We hope to inspire others to live the life of their dreams.

While we primarily focus on travel content, we also love sharing LGBTQ+ lifestyle content. So in addition to our destination guides and travel tips, you’ll find things like relationship advice, gift guides, and our favourite movies.

Who Is This Blog For?

Travelling as LGBTQ+ can be a daunting experience. Seventy-one countries criminalise same-sex relationships, and many more continue to discriminate against our community.

When we set off on our travels in 2017, we realised there was very little advice online on how to travel safely as a lesbian couple. We wanted to create a safe and reliable space where other LGBTQ+ travellers could learn and make decisions based on our experiences.

Because we believe travel is for everyone. Nobody deserves to miss out or feel afraid, regardless of $exual orientation or gender identity.

There’s still a long way to go to ensure travel is completely safe for the LGBTQ+ community. But for now, we celebrate how far we have come and take pride in being a part of the change.

But, just like travel, we want our blog to be for everyone.  Which is why alongside LGBTQ+ focused content, we provide comprehensive travel guides, recommended itineraries, and other resources designed to make travel planning easier.

Why We Travel

We should all have something in our lives that sets our souls on fire, and for us, it’s travel.

We love the excitement of exploring a new place and immersing ourselves in cultures that differ from our own. Going on new adventures is when we are truly at our happiest.

We also believe that travel is the best teacher. When you meet people from all walks of life, navigate the trials and tribulations of a foreign place, encounter unfamiliar sights and sounds, it helps you to grow and learn.

We acquired some of our most valuable life lessons during our travels, and honestly, it’s given our lives a whole new meaning.

I won’t bore you with quotes such as ‘travel helps you to find yourself’ and ‘to travel is to live’. But, everything cliche they say about travel is pretty much true.

How We Like to Travel

When we are on the road, you will often find us immersed in new vibrant cultures (like India), surrounded by nature (like Bali), or taking on a challenging adventure (like the time we trekked to Annapurna Base Camp).

Now, of course, Ventura, our self-converted van, is ready to hit the road. So you can expect to see lots of #vanlife content coming soon. I hope you are as excited as we are.

When we’re not travelling, you’ll find us at home on the Isle of Man where we spend our time bringing this blog to life.

Thank you for being a part of our journey
