8 Safe & Inclusive Locations for LGBTQ Digital Nomads
1. Amsterdam, Holland
The first destination on our list of locations for LGBTQ+ Digital Nomads will come as no surprise. Renowned for its progressive attitude around all things taboo, Amsterdam is considered one of the most gay-friendly cities in the world. Not only will you find a thriving LGBTQ+ scene in the dutch capital, but the nomad in you will undoubtedly fall in love with the aesthetics of the city.
From the picturesque canals and iconic townhouses, to the fascinating museums and eclectic stores, Amsterdam is as beautiful as it is exciting. My only advice: steer clear of the infamous coffee shops – at least until your working day is done!
2. Bali, Indonesia
We are flying across the pond now to the Instagram hotspot of Bali and one of the most popular spots in Asia for beginner digital nomads. That’s because Bali has all the advantages of being in South East Asia (cheap cost of living and a tropical climate), but with all the comforts you need to get by (incredible food and great internet).
While the gay scene in Bali is limited, it’s a very welcoming place for LGBTQ+ travellers. We’ve spent a lot of time in Bali over the years and never once felt unsafe or insecure. You’ll find the bulk of the Bali digital nomad culture in Canggu. Not only famous for its co-working spaces, but also for its trendy restaurants, incredible beaches, and health & fitness scene.

If you prefer city life over island life, another excellent location for LGBTQ digital nomads in South East Asia is Bangkok. Bangkok is a wild and intoxicating city – you either love it or you hate it. But if you love it, you’ll be in your absolute element living and working here.
For one, it’s super cheap – we’re talking cheaper than Bali cheap. There’s also so much to see and do that you couldn’t possibly ever get bored. Not to mention the vibrant Bangkok gay scene! When you combine all this with cheap flights to practically anywhere in Asia, it’s an absolute gem!
4. Berlin, Germany
Another forward-thinking European city with a long history of LGBTQ+ allyship is Berlin. Berlin’s LGBTQ+ scene is one of the most diverse and open-minded in the world. Regardless of what you’re into, you’ll find yourself in like-minded company here.

5. Brighton, UK
Next on our list of locations for LGBTQ+ Digital Nomads is the iconic seaside destination and queer capital of the UK – Brighton. Brighton has been at the epi-centre of LGBTQ+ culture since the 1930s, and the gay scene in Brighton continues to thrive.
The charming seaside town is home to a wealth of LGBTQ+ bars, nightclubs and attractions. It also hosts one of the largest pride events in all of Europe!
Not to mention the iconic pier and infamous lanes which make Brighton, well, Brighton! It may not be the cheapest place to live for digital nomads, but for those who can afford it, get ready to have the time of your life.
6. Chiang Mai, Thailand
Another South East Asian city that’s a worthy contender for LGBTQ+ digital nomads is Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is far less hectic than Bangkok, but has very similar perks as the capital such as a cheap cost of living and plenty to see and do.
It’s also more appealing to those who love nature and adventure, since you can go hiking in the bordering jungle or cliff jumping at a nearby canyon. There’s also a fairly decent gay scene in Chiang Mai where several LGBTQ+ bars & clubs are waiting to welcome you with open arms. But if the gay nightlife scene isn’t your ‘scene’ you’ll still be able to find your feet in this cultural and friendly city.
7. Prague, Czech Republic
Perhaps one of the more surprising destinations on this list, Prague is actually one of the most LGBTQ+ welcoming cities in ex-communist Europe. Beyond its jaw-dropping architecture, hypnotising cobbled lanes, and centuries of history, lie a vibrant and diversified gay scene.
Not only that, Prague is relatively affordable. So you can enjoy all the perks of an exciting capital city, but without the financial burden that the likes of London or New York bring to the table.
8. Taipei, Taiwan
The final city on our list of friendly destinations for LGBTQ digital nomads is Taipei. The Gay Taipei scene has exploded in recent years ever since Taiwan became the first country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage in 2019.
Today, LGBTQ+ travellers and digital nomads alike flood to the cosmopolitan city, to soak in the bustling atmosphere and immerse in the liberal culture. You’ll find various gays clubs and bars in Taipei, including one of the last remaining lesbian bars!
